OVERVIEW
The African Council on Foreign Relations is currently seeking a writer/editor for Africa.
As a writer/editor, you’ll be a part of the ACFR’s network of experts; you will contribute to our in-house knowledge production and advance the Center’s presence in various circles and/or research institutions.
The Writer/ Senior Editor will work under the direction of the Senior Director, Managing Editor and Deputy Managing Editors at Global Africa Center and engage with other experts of African Council on Foreign Relations. Writing Fellows support the academic and professional mission of the Global Africa Center by producing videos, cutting-edge analysis, and timely resources.
The major responsibilities of this role will include (but are not limited to):
- Serve as ACFR’s chief editor, writer, and publisher covering the Africa region. This comprises producing analysis, new articles, reports, etc.
- Conduct and produce timely research, analysis and writing assignments for experts and senior fellows.
- Help in various other publications (editing websites, pictures, multimedia assignments
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- 4 years of experience writing for a daily publication
- Experience writing on Africa and Pacific topics strongly preferred
- Ability to write and edit under deadlines
- Degree in related field with high academic achievement
- Strong researching, writing, reporting, editing, proofreading skills
- Experience using Adobe Photoshop, data visualization, and other web publishing tools
Pay: to be discussed. Pay commensurate with experience and education
Position Details:
Reports to: The Writer/ Senior Editor will work under the direction of the Senior Director, Managing Editor and Deputy Managing Editors at Global Africa Center and engage with other experts of African Council on Foreign Relations.
Contract type: Consultancy – paid on a per-publication basis or an hourly rate for other types of work
Duration: 12 months, subject to renewal
Location: Remote
